Venus Flower Trap

Venus Flower Traps (also called Flower Mimics) are enemies appearing in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They haunt the Honeybloom and Honeyhop Galaxies. Hence their name, Venus Flower Traps resemble flowers but are carnivorous. Mario/Luigi can stand on these enemies to use them as platforms, but must be quick to leave the Venus Flower Trap as it slaps its mouth shut after some time. If the creature swallows Mario/Luigi, he gets hurt from digestion and will be spat out into a nearby space, losing any Power-up in the process. The plumbers will not get hurt if the Venus Flower Trap is under a Coin, instead getting a coin (though not restoring lost health). Venus Flower Traps cannot be destroyed so the plumbers must time their hops and avoid being snacked on by them.

The mouth animation of Venus Flower Traps resembles the Piranha Plants from Mario Kart 64 on the Mario Raceway and Royal Raceway tracks.
Whenever Mario/Luigi stands on a regular Flower whilst not under the effects of a Bee Mushroom, it will disappear however the same doesn't happen with a Venus Flower Trap.
The Venus Flower Traps may be made of rubber as the plumbers can bounce on a Venus Flower Trap's surface after it attempts to chomp them.
Similar to the Venus Fire Trap and Venus Ice Trap, their name is a pun on the Venus Fly Trap which is a real-life carnivorous plant.
