"Two Plumbers and a Baby" is the seventeenth animated episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the live-action segment "Lost Dog."

Plot[]

Mario and his crew arrive in the Kingdom of Youth where it has been told that King Koopa has been using their magical Fountain of Youth for his own means. Along the way, they follow a trio of old men who want to use the fountain to become teenagers again. The three old men jump into the fountain but King Koopa, who has taken on the alias King Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa Koopa, turns up the fountain to its maximum setting turning the three old men into toddlers and grabs them. The three babies attempt to escape but are captured by Albatosses and put to slave labor.

The group spies on King Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa Koopa's slave labor but are given away when the accidentally knock over a wall made of blocks. In their attempt to escape, Princess Peach falls into the fountain and is turned into a baby. King Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa Koopa attempts to capture her, but she throws Mario's plunger onto his face and King Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa Koopa's Albatosses are ineffective with their nets. The group escapes and resolves to return at night.

While they wait for night, the three men attempt to keep the baby Princess entertained by pushing her on a swing. Unfortunately, she manages to grab a branch on a tree and starts crawling towards a bird. Mario attempts to save her, but the branch breaks causing the princess to fall off a cliff. Fortunately, she is caught on an overhanging tree and saved. Mario grabs an oddly-shaped tree and hang glides down to get her. Peach tickles him and he falls into the mud. The Princess, who kept hold of the glider, reaches the bottom of the cliff safely.

Mario goes to take a shower in a waterfall while the Princess is left on a raft. Once again, she manages to get into trouble as she floats away and is attacked by Trouters. Amazingly, she is able to grab one up without harm to herself and hurls it at the Marios. The Trouter attacks the group and cuts down a tree they climb on to escape it. They float down after Peach on this tree and save her in the nick of time.

Hoping to finally get some rest, the group attempts to get Peach to take a nap but fail. Toad shows her some fireflies, which she follows, towards King Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa's castle. The Princess nearly falls into the fountain, but is caught before she gets in. Mario and Luigi set to work making a control dial to reverse the power of the fountain (because King Koopa ripped off the settings stick). King Goo-Goo Gaa-Gaa Koopa attempts to attack, but is hurled into the fountain and is turned into a baby himself. The Marios then reverse the flow of the fountain and restore the ages of everyone turned into babies.

Trivia/Goofs[]

  • This episode marks the first appearance of the baby forms of characters such as Bowser and Peach. As a standalone character, Baby Bowser did not appear until Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, while Baby Peach would not appear until Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time.
  • In what is perhaps the biggest and most noticeable animation mistake on the show, Luigi's cap is red when Mario and Luigi are about to spray King Koopa with the youth water. At the same time, Mario is talking to Luigi, but he has Luigi's voice, and he refers to Luigi as himself, Mario.
  • The episode's title is a spoof of the film Three Men and a Baby.
  • This is the first time in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! when Mario or Luigi are referred to with a relative title (Baby Peach calls Mario and Luigi "Uncle Mario" or "Uncle Luigi."
