Toad and Go Seek is a Free-for-All mini-game in Mario Party 9.
Opening[]
The four characters are all standing near one another, two of whom are next to each other in the front, while the other two are together in the back. Each character is seen turning their head as if they are looking around. Following the Wii Remote confirmation pop-up, the minigame instructs the player to watch a blue Toad, who then runs around before deciding on a Toad House to enter.
Gameplay[]
Based on what was shown in the opening, the characters each have to track down and find the Toad House that the blue Toad is inside of. The rest of the Toad Houses are each occupied by a Goomba, so knocking on an incorrect Toad House causes a Goomba to answer instead, forcing the character to try again. Whoever finds the Toad first is the winner, followed by the second and third characters to find Toad. The minigame ends once either three characters find Toad or, less commonly, if the two-minute time limit runs out. If none of the characters find the correct Toad House within a minute, a map appears to help them out.
In Step It Up mode, the camera zooms into whoever discovered the Toad first.
