Spotlight

Greetings! I'm from the Wikia Gaming Team, and I want to add the Mario Wiki to the spotlights running on Wikia (those little ads for other wikis that you see). We're specifically going to feature you on the Super Smash Bros. wiki because we think that a lot of people interested in SSB would also be interested in Mario. The only catch is that in order to be eligible to be featured, you have to meet our best practices. The good news is that you already meet almost all of them! The only problem is that your Main Page is still called "Main Page". To help with Google ranking, we suggest that you rename your main page to "Mario Wiki". This is pretty easy to do. You can learn about how to do this, and find more suggestions about promoting your wiki here.

Of course, you don't have to do this, but we think it's a good idea, it's pretty easy, and we'll help promote you if you do. ;)

Character Template

I copied the Template:Character from my wiki (mario Party Wiki) in hopes that you guys would use it to spiff up your character articles. However I seem to be only guy who does. Check Mario, Luigi, Shadow Mario, Bowser, and Peach articles. - Count Caterpie

I would just like to formally apologize to the members of this Wiki for any rudeness on our behalf. People seem to think that there can only be one Wiki. Some members are very young and don't know any better. I for one think it's great to see another Mario Wiki out there.

Templates?

Hi. My name is StarYoshi1, and I'm from the other Mario Wiki. I came across this wiki a couple of weeks ago, and I decided to join. I found that this site does not have a template for the games, while there is one for the characters. Now I'm not a total Wiki expert, and don't know how to make templates, but I thought that maybe someone could make one. Maybe it could be designed somethig like this:

Power-up Articles

We have an article for the Starman, and one for Rainbow Mario: The direct effect of the Starman. We have the same for several of Mario's power-ups. Why not just merge the Transformation Article, with the Power-up Article? It makes so much more sense that way. Thoughts?

Rainbow Mario

I think the Mario transformation called "Rainbow Mario" really is called Rainbow Mario because that's the name from Super Mario Galaxy. You can't argue with Nintendo, you know. Wii. and Mario Kart Wii (see the site title). As Mario Wiki should not be one to disappoint, I think we should do our best to improve those articles and find out as much as we can about the new games.

Hello Mario Wiki!, I have got 1 question and 1 Idea. Question First, How many edits does it take to be a sysop or rollbacker? Idea Now, can we have a user of the month competition? From History99 :)

If we did that, people would just make hundreds of small minor punctuation edits and get promoted without putting in actual effort. 2. I don't think that would be a good idea. In part because MarioGalaxy, Launcher, I, and other top contributers would continue to win it over and over again. What I mean is that those who edit, edit a lot. Also, we have more important things, like improving our wiki, than an unimportant contest.

For starters, we need to have a limit, like here at least one week and fifty constructive, non-minor mainspace edits, i.e. those that were not reverted, and need to have a talkbubble. Those that satisfy those conditions can vote. We should do one each month. Some rules I would implement would be no one user can become featured user of the month if they have done so in the same year.

(But I do, however, sort of like Launchballer's idea.)It'll just make users think that they can be a sysop after they create a certain amount of articles. And not just any kind of an article, stub articles. I'll use Bob-omb for an example, even though there already is a page for it: "A Bob-omb is a bomb that blows up and has legs to walk on."
