Super Smash Bros. was the first in the series of three fighter games starring most of Nintedo's All Stars. It was realeased on the Nintendo 64 by Hal Laboratory.
Characters
There are 8 players to play at the beginning but 4 more are unlockable through story mode.

Luigi, Ness, Jigglypuff, and Captain Falcon( in italics in the table above) are the unlockable characters in SSB 64.
For Jigglypuff just beat 1 player mode with any character.
To get Luigi beat Bonus Practice 1 with the 8 original characters.
In order to get Ness you must beat 1 player on normal with 3 lives.
And last C. Falcon is earned when Single Player is beaten in under 20 mins.
The other unlockable is Sound Test; which is earned by beating both Bonus Practices with all the characters.

The playable stages on SSB 64 are:
- Peach's Castle
- Congo Jungle
- Hyrule Castle
- Planet Zebes
- Yoshi's Island
- Dream Land
- Sector Z
- Saffron City
Unlockable Stage:
- Mushroom Kingdom
