Mario Tennis

Super Mario Tennis is one of four special games in Mario Tennis Open. It is named after Super Mario Bros., which it reuses several assets from.

Gameplay[]

The minigame involves the player's character having to hit the tennis ball at enemies, coins, power-up items, and Brick Blocks on a screen, which also earns them points. The object of each level is to hit the Flagpole at the end with the ball. The minigame has a time limit that can be raised by earning points and coins. If the ball hits a Warp Pipe, either a sub-area or a different level is accessed. The lives are represented by how many tennis balls the character has left, so if they miss hitting a tennis ball, the character loses that tennis ball.

Playing the minigame can earn a few unlockables. Baby Mario can be unlocked by completing level 1-3. A Wario costume can be unlocked by completing level 1-4 with at least 800 coins, and a Waluigi costume can be unlocked by completing level 2-4 with at least 800 coins.
