Punch Ball Mario Bros. (パンチボールマリオブラザーズ) is a game developed by Hudson Soft in 1984. There were versions of the game made for the PC-6001mkII/NEC PC-6601, PC-8801, FM-7, Sharp X1, Sharp MZ-1500,[1] and IBM-JX.[2] It was very similar to Mario Bros., but with the addition of Punch Balls, the new attack method against enemies. The game's licensing details are unclear, but it is most likely one of the earliest licensed games in the Mario franchise.

Trivia[]

  • The stage has a large pipe at the bottom-center that brings the enemies back to the top, replacing the side pipes. The player dies if they jump in.
