Podoboos (バブル , Bubble, also referred to as Fire Bubbles even though they are a completely new enemy) are fireball-like enemies featured throughout the Mario franchise. They first appear in Super Mario Bros.. Podoboos dwell within lava and have a frequent pattern of jumping in and out of it.

Podoboos initially just had the appearance of a fireball, but in their more recent appearances, Podoboos resemble a roundish jellyfish and do a flip before landing back in the lava.

Related species to Podoboos include Fire Snakes, Hot Foots, Lava Bubbles, and Li'l Cinders.

In the Super Mario series[]

Throughout the series, Podobo appear in castle levels in the Super Mario series. They jump out of the lava in random spots of these areas. Contact with a Podoboo causes Mario or Luigi to take one damage, losing all power-ups.

Super Mario Bros.[]

Podoboo SMB Booklet

Artwork of a Podoboo from the Super Mario Bros. instruction booklet

Podoboos first appeared in Super Mario Bros., where they are seen in castle levels starting with World 2-4. They leap out of lava pits, only to fall down to jump out of the lava again. They are invincible and cannot be defeated. Most Podoboos do a single leap out of the lava, although some may do double and even triple conclusive leaps as well. The game's instruction booklet describes them as Bowser's bodyguards.

Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels[]

Podoboo SMB sprite

Podoboos appear in the Japanese sequel to the previous game, Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, where they act the exact same way as they did in the predecessor. Just as before Podoboos are completely invincible and cannot be destroyed in any way (even with a Starman which merely causes Mario to phase through them). A lone Podoboo also appears in World 9-4.

Super Mario Bros. 3[]

Podoboo Magma

Podoboos reappear in Super Mario Bros. 3, where they behave just the same as they did in Super Mario Bros.. Podoboos are commonly found in Fortresses and some hop out of lava from the roof. Podoboos are also commonly found in the Dark Land. Podoboos can now be defeated using either the Hammer Suit or the Starman, and doing so earns the player 100 points.

Super Mario World[]

Podoboo Super Mario World

A Podoboo hopping out of the lava in Super Mario World.

In Super Mario World, Podoboos appear to act the same as they have in the previous games. For the first time in the series, Podoboos appear to have two black dotted eyes, which would become their stable appearance for a majority of future Mario games. Several Podoboos appear during Larry's boss fight as an additional obstacle to avoid. A new type of Podoboo called the Zigzag Podoboo is also seen in this game, these Podoboos tend to bounce off walls. They also appear during Lemmy and Wendy's battle, where they bounce around the room, creating an obstacle for Mario.

Super Mario 64 / Super Mario 64 DS[]

Podoboo N64

A Podoboo hopping on the bridge.

Podoboo Land

A Podoboo as seen in Super Mario 64 DS.

Podoboos make their first 3D appearance in Super Mario 64. Here, they appear in several areas of Lethal Lava Land on various bridges bouncing from one side to the other. Getting hit by a Podoboo causes Mario to lose 3 points of health. In this game, they are indestructible.

Podoboos return in Super Mario 64 DS with the exact same role as in Super Mario 64. Just as before, they can only be found in Lethal Lava Land however this time, Yoshi can swallow them to spit out fire.

Super Princess Peach[]

PodobooRibs

Princess Peach near two Podoboos.

Podoboos also appear in Super Princess Peach where they are found in several levels of Fury Volcano and Bowser's Villa. Their behavior is identical to how it is in the Yoshi series except that they lack the ability to bounce off walls. All Podoboos are also shown to jump at about the same height as well in this game. In this game, they are invincible and cannot be defeated in any way so as a result, they can be earned in the Glossary just by simply encountering them for the first time. This game also introduces a blue version of the Podoboo called the Blue Podoboo which hops out of Blue Lava and homes in on Peach.

New Super Mario Bros.[]

Podoboo NSMB

A Podoboo as seen in New Super Mario Bros..

Podoboos also appear in New Super Mario Bros., where they behave the same as they have for past games. In this game, they once again lack eyes as their appearance in this game is heavily based on their appearance in both Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 DS. Podoboos are found in World 1-Castle, World 4-Castle, World 6-Fortress 2, World 6-Castle, World 8-Castle, World 8-5, World 8-Fortress 2, and Bowser's Castle. They can only be defeated with the effects of the Mega Mushroom or the Starman.

In the game's files, there is an unused Invisible Podoboo sprite which was never used in any levels, this Podoboo isn't shown to take leaps out of lava but rather move along a set path back and forth horizontally, if Mario were to be hit by an invisible Podoboo, it would briefly reveal itself before disappearing again. The Phantom Hands were intended to point at the locations of invisible Podoboos just as they do with other invisible objects in the game.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[]

In this game, Podoboos can easily be defeated with the effects of the Ice Flower, Penguin Suit or the Starman. Podoboos are also fought in the World 8 Enemy Course where they leap out of the lava on the bridges periodically requiring players to avoid them as they grab the Toad Balloons.

In the beta version of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it was shown that Podoboos were going to appear in the boss fight with Morton Koopa Jr. instead of the Spike Pillars hopping out of the lava on the sides of the arena.

Super Mario Galaxy 2[]

PodobooSMG2

A Podoboo hopping into a nearby lava pool in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Podoboos make their next 3D appearance in Super Mario Galaxy 2, where they behave the same as they do in various other Mario games. For the first time in the series, they've been given the power to jump from one lava pit to another. Strangely, they have no eyes in this installment despite the Lava Bouncers (a sub-species of Podoboos which also appear in this game) possessing eyes. Podoboos can be found in Bowser's Lava Lair, Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet, the Melty Monster Galaxy, and Bowser's Galaxy Generator and are completely invincible however they can be stunned by the Co-Star Luma.

Super Mario 3D Land[]

Podoboo 3D

Podoboos reappear in their next 3D appearance in Super Mario 3D Land, where they behave more like in New Super Mario Bros. They regained their dotted eyes in this entry. They are commonly found in Castles and are commonly found in groups. In this game, the Podoboos can also leap through mesh platforms requiring some precision to avoid being scorched. They can also be seen hopping out of gaps in between bridges above the lava. Podoboos can be defeated with the effects of either the Starman or the Invincibility Leaf.

New Super Mario Bros. 2[]

Boo Podoboo Thwomp SMM

A Podoboo near several Boos and Thwomps in Super Mario Maker.

Podoboos reappear in Super Mario Maker and its two sequels, where they are placable enemies. Like all enemies, they can given a Super Mushroom to grow into a Big Podoboo or wings to make them a Para-Podoboo. In Super Mario Maker 2, they can be given a Parachute. They are also called "Lava Bubbles" in both of these games. Similarly, the Blurp is referred to as a Cheep Cheep in these games.

In all the games' themes, Podoboos behave as they do in the 2D Platformers, they hop out of the lava or abyss but they can sometimes spawn from Question Blocks or Bill Blasters. In all themes, Podoboos can only be defeated with the effects of the Starman.

Super Mario Run[]

Podoboo Fire Castle

Mario evades several Podoboos in Super Mario Run.

Podoboos reappear in Super Mario Run, where they behave the same as they have for past Mario games. In this game, Podoboos are primarily found in Castles as one of the most common enemies in these levels (alongside Dry Bones). Podoboos are usually found near Pause Blocks allowing Mario to time the Podoboos movements before hot footing it past the rising and falling Podoboos. This game also introduces a new varitey of the Podoboo called the Poison Podoboo which jumps out of Poisonous Swamps. Podoboos once again are commonly found in Volcanoes or Castles and can only be defeated with the effects of a Starman.

Super Mario Odyssey[]

Podoboo SMO

A Podoboo in the Luncheon Kingdom of Super Mario Odyssey.

In Super Mario Odyssey, Podoboos appear as enemies, commonly found in the Luncheon Kingdom. Podoboos are frequently found hopping out of the lava near edges of the mainland and are always next to lone islands surrounded by lava in fact some can also be seen swimming around these island. When Mario Captures one, he is able to swim across lava, Mario can also take leaps out of the lava while controlling a Podoboo and can also do a fancy jump by shaking the Nintendo Switch. There are also cannons in the lava with a Podoboo's emblem on them called Lava Cannons. If Mario jumps into one of these while Capturing a Podoboo, he is able to be shot out of the cannon, taking him to another location in the Luncheon Kingdom. If Mario touches a Podoboo while controlling one, he won't take damage and will merely be bumped aside lightly. If Mario touches land as a Podoboo, the Podoboo will dissipate and Mario will automatically return to normal however Mario can jump through mesh flooring while controlling a Podoboo, Mario can also bounce on the Magmatoes as a Podoboo to create a lava puddle to continue swimming in. Mario can also ride Lava Plumes and use them to gain some extra height while having captured a Podoboo. Podoboos are also seen in some bonus sections of The Mushroom Kingdom, the Lost Kingdom, the Cloud Kingdom, and the Darker Side.

Various 2D sections also have 8-bit Podoboos which cause damage upon contact (like how they did in Super Mario Bros.)

In the Yoshi's Island series[]

Yoshi can swallow the Podoboos and gain limited fire breath.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

Podoboo SMW2 YI

A Podoboo Leaps.

Outside the Mario series, Podoboos have also appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 retaining their behavior from the mainline games (leaping out of lava pits) however in this game, they leap much slower. Yoshi can defeat them by either swallowing them or throwing an egg at them. If Yoshi is to swallow a Podoboo, he will be given the ability to spit fire (similar to the effects of the Fire Melon), Podoboos are primarily found in levels such as Hookbill the Koopa's Castle and The Very Loooooong Cave. Touching a Podoboo will knock Baby Mario off Yoshi's back forcing the dinosaur to retrieve him. A related species to Podoboos called the Lava Drop also appears in this game. Lava Drops tend to move around horizontally or vertically similar to a Cloud Drop.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Podoboo Up Hop

Yoshi (and Baby Peach) fluttering over two Podoboos.

Podoboos return in Yoshi's Island DS retaining their behavior from the previous game. Most Podoboos are seen leaping straight up out of lava as they usually do however these games also introduce new variants of Podoboos that can leap sideways and even some that can bounce off walls and leap much slower. Podoboos behave as they did in the previous game and are among the few enemies that only need to be encountered to appear in the Island Museum and egg-throwing isn't required. Podoboos can be found in Underground Volcanoes and Castles such as Yoshi on Stilts, Six-Face Sal's Fort, and Hurry and Throw! and just as before, can be defeated by either swallowing them or tossing eggs at them. Once again, swallowing a Podoboo will grant Yoshi the ability to spit fire.

Yoshi's New Island[]

Podoboos are completely absent from Yoshi's New Island and instead appear to be replaced with Lava Drops, who behave identically to Podoboos in this game.

In the Mario Kart series[]

In the Mario Kart series, Podoboos appear in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Mario Kart DS, Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7, and Mario Kart Tour as obstacles in various courses such as the Bowser's Castle courses where players have to dodge them as they take leaps out of the lava. Driving into a Podoboo will cause the racer to spin out and likely fall into the lava below. Several Bowser's Castle courses as well as Waluigi Stadium and Wario Stadium also feature Podoboo Cogs which players must dodge. Podoboos are also found in other lava-themed courses such as Grumble Volcano.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit[]

Podoboo Lava Pool

A Podoboo leaps out of the lava pool.

Podoboos appear in Mario Kart: Super Circuit, in which they are seen taking leaps out of the lava in Bowser Castle 1, Bowser Castle 2, Bowser Castle 3, and Bowser Castle 4. They are often seen leaping out of the lava gaps after the ramps near the Item Boxes. Collision with a Podoboo will cause the racer to spin out unless they are under the effects of a Starman or Boo. In Bowser Castle 1 and Bowser Castle 3, Podoboos are commonly seen hopping out of the lava in the gaps between the ramps while in Bowser Castle 2 and Bowser Castle 4, they are seen hopping around more lava lakes around the course.

Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]

Podoboo Opera

Several Podoboos up ahead leaping out of the lava.

Podoboos appear in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! as an obstacle found in Bowser's Castle. They can be seen leaping out of the lava in arcs and then landing back in through the mesh tracks. Touching a Podoboo will cause the racers to spin out unless they are under the effects of a Starman or Chain Chomp. Surprisingly, the Podoboos are completely absent when playing with 2 or more Players. Also, the Podoboo Cogs in Waluigi Stadium are shown to have Podoboos in the center of them.

Mario Kart DS[]

Podoboo Doubles

Podoboos appear in Mario Kart DS in the returning retro course GBA Bowser Castle 2. In this game, they behave as they did in the original course (hopping out of lava, mostly near ramps but sometimes around the course as well). Contact with a Podoboo will scorch a racer causing him/her to spin out however the Podoboos can be phased through if a racer is under the effects of a Boo, Starman, or Bullet Bill.

Mario Kart Wii[]

Podoboo MKW

A Podoboo as seen in Mario Kart Wii.

Podoboos are seen again in Mario Kart Wii. In this game, they are seen in the returning GBA Bowser Castle 3 course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, just as before, the Podoboos are seen taking leaps out of the lava by the ramps near the Item Boxes. Podoboos return in Mario Kart 7, in this game. They appear in the returning course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit, GBA Bowser Castle 1 where they can be seen hopping out of the lava by the various ramps. Just as before, touching a Podoboo will scorch the racer causing him/her to spin out unless he/she is under the effects of a Bullet Bill or a Starman. In Laps 2 and 3, the Glide Panel is activated allowing racer to soar above the lava in their Glider and avoid the Podoboos entirely.

Mario Kart Tour[]

Podoboo Flip

Dry Bones passing a jumping Podoboo.

Podoboos are back in Mario Kart Tour this time appearing in the returning courses GBA Bowser Castle 1, GBA Bowser Castle 2, and GBA Bowser Castle 3. In these games, just as before, they take leaps out of the lava near the gaps or around the course and must be avoided. As usual, driving into a leaping Podoboo will give the racer a scorching spin so watch out. Podoboos can be phased through whilst under the effects of a Starman, Mega Mushroom, or Bullet Bill. This is also the first game since Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (not counting their 8-bit rendition from Paper Mario: Color Splash) where Podoboos lack eyes and resemble a mere fireball.

In the Mario Party series[]

Podoboos appear in a majority of the Mario Party games. They appear in mini-games as obstacles that the characters must avoid. They also appear as decorations on the board maps. Podoboos' biggest role in the Mario Party series is an appearance as a capsule in Mario Party 5 and an orb in Mario Party 6.

Item appearances[]

  • Bubble Capsule - Three Podoboos will form a circle around a character and propel them ten spaces forward by burning them, bypassing any stars and board events. The character will also lose any capsules they are carrying when this capsule is used.
  • Podoboo Orb - Podoboo creates a roadblock on the boards, causing any characters that pass them to lose ten coins.

Board appearances[]

Goomba's Booty Boardwalk 2

  • Goomba's Booty Boardwalk - When the Bowser Space is activated, Podoboos will attack the player at Bowser's command.
  • Magma Mine - Podoboos can be seen leaping out of the lava as it rises, when the lava catches up with the players a Podoboo will jump at the captain causing him/her to lose half of their Mini Stars.
  • Bowser's Peculiar Peak - Podoboos can be seen hopping out of the lava around the board.
  • Chaos Castle - Podoboos appear as obstacles on various gapped bridges, when the players reach these bridges, the captain needs to time his/her jumps to avoid the jumping Podoboos. If the vehicle is hit by a Podoboo, the captain will lose several Mini Stars.

Mini-game appearances[]

Podoboo Rope

Podoboos in the Mario Party Superstars version of Hot Rope Jump.

  • Hot Rope Jump - The Podoboos will form a giant chain in this mini-game and start rotating it in a clockwise fashion. The characters must jump over the Podoboo chain in order to avoid being burned. The more rotations the character completes, the faster the rope will move. In Mario Party 2, Hot Rope Jump returns, except the Podoboos start out as small blue Podoboos and change into orange Podoboos as the mini-game progresses.
  • Treadmill Grill - The characters are on a giant treadmill-type grill that is surrounded by blue-colored Podoboos. The objective of the mini-game is to avoid touching the Podoboos that appear on the edge of the grill. As the mini-game progresses, orange Podoboos will start to wander around the grill, seeking out characters to attack.
  • All Fired Up - The characters are transported into an enclosed room that is full of tiny Podoboos. The Podoboos will start to create chains, shapes, and other designs that the characters must avoid.
  • Hyper Hydrants - Players must work with their respective teammates to extinguish a Big Podoboo with water, as the minigame progresses, smaller Podoboos emerge in hopes of scorching the players impeding their progress.
  • Eye Sore - Podoboos as obstacles the characters must avoid in this mini-game while trying to circle Mr. I. If a character makes contact with a Podoboo, then they will be burned and unable to move for a few seconds.
  • Heat Stroke - As the platform gets closer to the lava, Podoboos start hopping onto the platform the teammates are on, if a player is hit by a Podoboo, they are eliminated.
  • Daft Rafts - The nighttime version of this rafts contains Podoboos rather than Spinies. If a character touches one of the Podoboos, they are automatically eliminated.
  • Lava or Leave 'Em - A larger Podoboo moves around on the platform surrounded by lava which the players are standing on. As the minigame progresses, the Podoboo will split itself into smaller moving Podoboos making it slightly harder to avoid them all. If a player falls into the lava surrounding the platform or touches a Podoboo, they are eliminated immediately.

In the Mario & Luigi series[]

MLSS DX Podoboo Area

The Podoboos in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions now have eyes.

Podoboos also appear in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga where they can be found as an obstacle in the side-scrolling section of Bowser's Castle leaping out of the various lava pits below. Touching a Podoboo will send Mario back to the beginning of the section. In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, they've been given eyes. Like the Li'l Sparkies, the Podoboos in these games serve more as an obstacle rather than a fightable enemy.

Their appearance in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga closely resembles their appearance in the original Super Mario Bros. while their appearance in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions resembles their appearance in New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team[]

Podoboos Neo Bowser Castle

Podoboos leaping out of the Lava in Neo Bowser Castle.

Podoboos appear again in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. In this game, they appear in Neo Bowser Castle as obstacles that hop out of the lava below. Just as before, they serve as more of an obstacle rather than a fightable enemy. Podoboos are commonly found in between platforming sections as an obstacle to avoid while crossing the platforms. They also commonly hop out of the lava in rows however there are also Podoboos that hop out of the lava much quicker than other requiring the plumbers to do a Spin Jump around them to avoid being scorched. Some Podoboos are also seen hopping across the bridges in an arc and these Podoboos movements must be timed accurately. If Mario and Luigi are hit by a Podoboo, they are sent flying back to where they started.

In the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series[]

Mario vs. Donkey Kong[]

Podoboo Hop Leap

Podoboos as seen in Mario vs. Donkey Kong.

Podoboos appear as enemies in Mario vs. Donkey Kong. In this game, they appear as obstacles in Fire Mountain. They behave identically to how they do in the mainstream Mario games. Touching a Podoboo will instantly burn Mario causing an instant death. They can be seen leaping out of the lava pits around the various rooms, they are more common in the plus variation of Fire Mountain. In this game, they are invincible and cannot be destroyed.

Podoboos are seen again in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, in this game, they retain their role and behavior from the previous game and are commonly found in levels of Lava Dome however this time, their appearance is more based on their Super Mario Bros. appearance (without the eyes). Podoboos are also placeable enemies in the Construction Zone in the Lava Dome Kit as well as Special Kit 2 and Special Kit 3. Just as before, Podoboos are indestructible and cannot be destroyed and touching a Podoboo will instantly scorch a Mini Mario.

In the Mario Sports series[]

Mario Hoops 3-on-3[]

Podoboo Slam Basketball

A Podoboo in Mario Hoops 3-on-3.

Podoboos are seen in Mario Hoops 3-on-3 where they can be found in the Bowser's Castle court. During the rounds, Podoboos periodically take leaps out of the lava phasing through the ground (both solid and mesh grounds). If players are hit by a Podoboo, they will be scorched and stunned temporarily and will drop the ball giving the opposing team an upper hand. The mesh ground where Podoboos will leap from underneath will glow red to indicate where they will be leaping from. As the round progresses, more Podoboos will start leaping at once. Being under the effects of a Starman will make players immune to the Podoboos.

In this game, the Podoboos once again lack eyes resembling how they looked in Super Mario Bros..

Mario Sports Mix[]

Podoboo Sports

A Podoboo from Mario Sports Mix.

Podoboos appear again in Mario Sports Mix. In this game, they can be seen in the Bowser's Castle court taking periodic leaps out of the lava just as in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. In this game, the Podoboos tend to hop mostly around the center of the court but they can sometimes leap from other ends as well. Just as before, the Podoboos can leap through any ground (whether it is solid ground or mesh ground) and the ground which they will leap from will glow to indicate where they will leap. If players are hit by a Podoboo, they will be stunned and in Basketball and Volleyball, they will drop the ball (if they were holding it) giving their rivals the upper hand to pick it up, during hockey and dodgeball, they are stunned (in the latter, leaving them vulnerable to ball attacks from the opposing team).

The Podoboos are given eyes in this game resembling their appearance from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

In the Paper Mario series[]

Similar enemies called Embers from the Paper Mario series replace Podoboos as enemies in certain levels.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[]

Paper Podoboo

A Podoboo as seen in Paper Mario: Sticker Star.

Podoboos make their Paper Mario series debut in Paper Mario: Sticker Star where they appear during the third phase of Bowser's boss fight in Bowser's Sky Castle. During the fight Bowser will order the Podoboos to attack at which point the Podoboos will rain down on Mario doing 2 damage each. Mario can freeze the Podoboos with cold-based Thing Stickers (such as the Shaved Ice, Air Conditioner, or the Refrigerator). After the Podoboos are frozen, they cannot attack Mario for the remainder of the battle. Mario can either continue to attack Bowser without the threat of the Podoboos hailing down for an attack or use a wind-based Thing Sticker (such as the Bellows, Paper Fan, or the Fan) to unfreeze the Podoboos and cause them to rain down on Bowser dealing some heavy damage to him causing Bowser to move onto the next phase.

Paper Mario: Color Splash[]

Podoboo Battle Fight

Several Podoboos ready for battle.

Podoboo Classic Screen

8-Bit styled Podoboos leaping out of the Lava.

Podoboos appear in Paper Mario: Color Splash appearing in Redpepper Volcano and Redpepper Crater. They are seen hopping out of the lava and attacking Mario to engage him in battle. In battle, Podoboos attack by leaping in the air and darting at Mario. Due to their fiery nature, Podoboos are immune to both Jumps and Hammers. They can only be defeated with either Ice Flowers or the use of Thing Cards. Some Fire Bros. can also be seen practicing their fireball attacks on Podoboos as well. Podoboos are simply referred to as "Lava Bubbles" in this game.

8-Bit Podoboos (under their traditional name) can also be found in the Super Mario Bros. 3-styled section of the Green Energy Plant. They can be seen in the Castle sections hopping out of the lava, unlike the Podoboos in the Volcano and all other enemies in the area, these Podoboos merely deal 25 damage to Mario upon contact and cannot be engaged in battle.

Paper Mario: The Origami King[]

While regular Podoboos don't appear in Paper Mario: The Origami King, a variety of Podoboo called the Paper Macho Podoboo does. These Podoboos are seen in Hotfoot Crater and erupt from the lava and descend down on the main path in a similar fashion to a Lava Fireball.

In Mario Golf: Super Rush[]

Podoboo Golf Course

Podoboos hopping out of the lava around the Bowser Statue.

Podoboos are also seen in Mario Golf: Super Rush in the course Bowser Highlands where they are seen hopping out of the lava seas around the course near several Magmaarghs. The Podoboos can also leap through the mesh grounds which can hinder players who end up down there after putting the ball. Avoiding the Podoboos however isn't particularly challenging and most of the Podoboos don't serve as much of a hazard.

Trivia[]

  • It is unclear whether a Podoboo is actually a fireball or a bubble composed of lava, official sources seem to conflict as the official guide for Super Mario Bros. 3 describes them as "living bubbles of magma" while the in-game Glossary for Super Princess Peach describes them as "fireballs".
    • In most games of the Mario Party series, Podoboos are shown to be neither and rather just a small flame.
