Nintendo DSi was announced by Nintendo on October 2, 2008. It is thinner and lighter than the DS Lite, due to the Game Boy Advance slot being removed. One internal camera and one external camera was added, along with music playback functions, larger screens, an SD Card slot, and a DSiWare shop app (similar to the Wii Shop Channel).

Other Features
DSi Camera
The DSi Camera allows players to take and edit photos using a series of 12 different lenses. The lenses vary from distorting photographs to merging two faces together. The software can store up to 412 photos. Any additional photos can be stored in an SD card.
Nintendo DSi XL
Nintendo released a larger version, called the Nintendo DSi XL. Its most notable improvements are larger screens, better viewing angles, a longer battery life, and a shiny surface with a matte underside for better gripping. It was announced in North America in 2010.
Games
While no DSi-specific game cards have been released, several games and applications (known as DSiWare) can be bought off the DSi's online store using purchased points, in a similar manner to the Wii Points.
