Nintendo

The Nintendo 64 (ニンテンドウ64 Nintendō Rokujūyon) commonly abbreviated to N64 (stylized as NINTENDO64 , formerly known as Nintendo Ultra 64, and codenamed Project Reality), is a video game console developed by Nintendo and is the fifth generation of video game consoles, competing with the Sony PlayStation and the Sega Saturn.

It was launched on June 23, 1996 in Japan, on September 29, 1996 in North America, and on March 1, 1997 in Europe, Australia, and South Korea. The console is known for being 64-bit, the source of its name, and for being the home of the first particularly successful, fully 3-dimensional games, including Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Donkey Kong 64. Production of the Nintendo 64 ended in Japan in early 2002 and worldwide in late 2003.

The Nintendo 64 sold 32.93 million units.
