Nintendo 64 (Japanese: 任天堂64 Nintendō 64) (ニンテンドウ64 Nintendō Rokujūyon) commonly abbreviated to N64 (stylized as NINTENDO64 , formerly known as Nintendo Ultra 64, and codenamed Project Reality), is a video game console developed by Nintendo. It was launched on 23 June, 1996 in Japan and September 29, 1996 in North America. The console is known for being 64-bit, the source of its name, and for being the home of the first particularly successful, fully 3-dimensional games, including Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Donkey Kong 64.
