Mega Guys, also named Big Shy Guys, are an enlarged variant of Shy Guy featured in a few Yoshi as well as Mario games. Mega Guys first appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

In the Yoshi's Island series[]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island[]

For their debut, Mega Guys are generically known as Big Shy Guys. They are only encountered in Prince Froggy's belly during the boss fight against him, and are only present in red and green varieties. Given that Yellow Yoshi and Baby Mario have shrunk for the boss fight, they are likely regular Shy Guys, only large in proportion. Yellow Yoshi has to swallow a Big Shy Guy to create a Giant Egg, which he must throw at Froggy's uvula to attack it.

Yoshi's New Island[]

Mega Guys appear out of certain large Warp Pipes. A Yoshi can eat a Mega Guy to convert it into a Mega Eggdozer.

In Super Mario Advance[]

Here, they are named Big Shy Guys, like in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Big Shy Guys are a unique addition to Super Mario Advance, and do not appear in other versions of Super Mario Bros. 2. A Big Shy Guy is colored either red or blue, like normal Shy Guys, and has the same behavior of moving back and forth. Despite their larger size, Big Shy Guys can be defeated in the same way, by either throwing it at another enemy or throwing an object, such as a Mushroom Block, at it.

A Big Shy Guy has a few differences from a regular Shy Guy, such as how it takes a few additional seconds to pick up a Big Shy Guy. A Big Shy Guy can release a small heart by either throwing it or defeating it.

In WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase[]

A red Mega Guy has a possibility of being the enemy in the microgame Mario Adv., which randomly chooses between either it, a regular Shy Guy, a Tweeter, or a Ninji as the enemy. Regardless, the object is for Mario to throw a Vegetable at the enemy to defeat.
