Mario Kart

Koopa Cape is a recurring seaside course in the Mario Kart series. It first appears in Mario Kart Wii, as the second course in Star Cup. Koopa Cape would later appear as a classic course in a few later Mario Kart games, with its title formatted Wii Koopa Cape. The course made its first reappearance in Mario Kart 7, as the first course of the Lightning Cup, then in Mario Kart Tour's Peach vs. Bowser Tour of May 2022, and in Wave 5 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass, as the third course in the Cherry Cup.

Description[]

Rocket Start (Mario Kart Wii)

Koopa Troopa racing on the track.

The Koopa Cape track starts out on jagged but scenic cliffsides, accompanied by several twists and turns. A third of the way into the track, the course becomes flooded with water, speeding up the Kart's progress. After cutting through the watery roads, racers are thrust into an oversized warp pipe, also with a long trail of water in it. Through the pipe, electrified rods can shrink the players, slowing them down. They then exit the pipe, where the road is split into two sections: one with a blue ramp to the side of the track which the player can pull off some tricks, another has a waterfall flowing through it, but one must be careful as the waterfall can push players into the water unless if they have a mushroom or a star on hand. After taking one of these two paths the player crosses the finish line and the race ends. This is one of the few maps that are the home of Koopa Troopa.

Mario Kart 7[]

MK7 Koopa Cape

As a retro course in Mario Kart 7.

This course reappears in Mario Kart 7 as a Retro Course in the Lightning Cup. Little has changed, but one of the main differences is that the underwater tunnel has had its top cut off, causing it to become an underwater halfpipe. Another difference is that the ramp that leads to the river segment has now become a gliding section. Also, the Goombas here are replaced with Grand Goombas. The underwater halfpipe has Cheep Cheeps, and the Koopa Zappers have been removed.

Mario Kart Tour[]

The Mario Kart Tour iteration has taller cliffs, giving the course a more mountainous look. The starting banner now has a large metal sign with the modern Mario Kart logo and a Green Shell on top that bounces back and forth. The half-pipes are reinstated.

Mario Kart 8[]

This iteration of Koopa Cape has the half-pipe during the underwater section doubling as an anti-gravity segment.
