Mario Party

King Boo's Haunted Hideaway is a board in Mario Party 8 hosted by King Boo. It is a large haunted house located in the middle of an old forest. The mansion itself seems to deviated from Luigi's Mansion and Horror Land from Mario Party 2. The unique thing about this board is that it has no set path. Every time the board is played, a different path is created out of preset "track pieces," making the mansion into an impossible maze. The goal of the maze is to find the mansion's owner, King Boo, who will trade a star for ten coins. King Boo, however, only appears at one of the three (or sometimes two) ends of the maze, the other(s) lead to large holes, called pitfalls. If a player makes it one of these rooms, they are confronted by a swarm of Pink Boos, who return them to the start.

Star Battle Arena[]

In Star Battle Arena, this board is the third stage. In the Star Battle Arena version, the player or the opponent wins by taking two stars from King Boo. Both stars are 10 coins each. (The player or the opponent has to find him --King Boo-- twice with 10 coins each time.) However, the mansion and board stays the same and areas that were revealed stays that way even when the player or the opponent goes back to the start.

Spaces[]

  • Duel and Challenge Spaces are added, and Lucky Spaces are removed.
  • The mansion has twice as many rooms (24 instead of 12 for a standard four-player game) and there are three King Boo rooms. There are three stars, but the player or the opponent only needs two stars to win.

Green Spaces[]

  • The ? Spaces in front of Piranha Plants will make the flowers chew on players for 10 coins. ? Spaces next to mirror cabinets will transport another player to the space, determined by a dart wheel. The ? Space next to Mowz will let the player steal something from another player via a large pinball game. ? Spaces next to shaking chests will open the chest, giving the player a random piece of candy, 20 coins, or Pink Boos that swipe 10 coins away from the player.

Lucky Space[]

Upon activating the Lucky Space, The player ascends a set of stairs which leads them to the second floor (upstairs floor) of the mansion. Then they find a small path of Blue Spaces with three coins. There are 9 Blue Spaces, so the player can get a total of 27 coins (as each Blue Space has three coins). At the very end, there is a pipe that transports the player to King Boo's room. Then, the original rules (of this board) apply. After the player gets the star from King Boo, King Boo shuffles the board.

DK and Bowser Spaces[]

If the player lands on a DK Space, Donkey Kong caps the pitfalls (with DK platforms) and gives the first player to reach him a free star. If the player lands on a Bowser Space, Bowser caps the pitfalls (with Bowser platforms) then he steals one of the player's stars if they reach him in a pitfall room. If the player has zero stars, Bowser gives them 10 coins.

On Star Battle Arena, the DK event (via the DK Space) is like in Party Tent. However, if the player --or the opponent-- gets a star from Donkey Kong, it counts as one of their stars (as they need to acquire 2 stars to win). If the Bowser Space is activated, the Bowser event results with Bowser stealing all of the player's coins (or the opponent's). If the player has zero coins, Bowser gives them 10 coins.
