Battle[]

In battle, the Gunyolk is able to use the deadly Breaker Beam move, and it does not even need an extra turn to recharge. It can also use other moves that may throw Mario and his party for a loop.

Strategy[]

While being the final Normal Boss of the game, the Gunyolk is fairy easy due to its health, it's is weak to Thunder so Mallow and his Thunderbolt will be help. However, it is first recommended to take down the Factory Chief as he can turn Mario's party into mushrooms. The Gunyolk is resistant to fire so Mario should stick mainly with his Jump moves.

Trivia[]

  • Gunyolk is the second boss to use the Breaker Beam move, the first being the Axem Rangers on their Blade.
  • Despite being the penultimate boss of the game, much like Factory Chief, Gunyolk is often considered by fans as a relatively straightforward boss when compare to previous bosses before hand.
    • This was likely intentional, given that its one of the last bosses before the final fight agents Smithy, it was likely made intentional easy as to not have Players use up most of their researches before the fight agents Smithy.
  • Gunyolk is named after former Nintendo executive Gunpei Yokoi, with its name specifically combining the first syllable of Gunpei Yokoi's first and last names each.
