Fire Piranha Plant (ファイアパックン, lit. Fire Piranha), also known as Venus Fire Trap, are types of Piranha Plants appear throughout the series.


They first appear in Super Mario Bros. 3 and they can breathe fireballs. Their first level is World 1-1, later in the level. When Mario reaches World 2, Fire Piranha Plsnt spit out two fireballs at a time. In Super Mario 3D Land, they are black and do not spit out fire until Mario is near it or use binoculars to look at it. In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, they are present in the second course of World 2, and shoot fireballs which provide limited light and cannot be seen until they shoot the fire balls. They appear all throughout the course, but otherwise make limited appearances in the rest of the world. 

Fire Piranha Plant also appear in Paper Mario: Sticker Star under the name "Fire Piranha Plants". They act like regular Venus Fly Traps mainly attacking by spitting fireballs at Mario. They are only fought on the levels Rugged Road and Rumble Volcano.

In Super Mario 3D Land and Super Mario 3D World, Fire Piranha Plant have a black and orange coloration.
