Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64)[]

Waluigi Tennis 64

Waluigi's artwork for Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64

Waluigi makes his overall debut in the game. He is both Wario's partner and a playable character himself. Waluigi is a Technique character, so he has good control over the ball. Waluigi also has above-average reach, although lacks power and movement speed.

In the opening, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Paratroopa, and Birdo are getting ready for a tennis tournament. Wario and Waluigi, however, were not invited, which upset the two. Wario and Waluigi interrupted the final match between Mario and Luigi, and Waluigi requests if they could join. Luigi rejects his request, and mocks Waluigi. Waluigi was upset by this, and Luigi and Waluigi prepare to fight, with Mario attempting to break it up, but Wario blocked the way. Just then, Bowser drops from the sky, knocking Wario and Waluigi to the ground. Everybody readies themselves to battle him, but Bowser says he only wants to play tennis with them. Mario allows Bowser, Wario, and Waluigi to play with them, and everyone cheers. However, a Bob-omb falls into the stadium, hurting everyone.

Mario Tennis (Game Boy Color)[]

Waluigi is an unlockable Technique character. He can be unlocked only if a Transfer Pak is used between the Nintendo 64 version of Mario Tennis. Because of this, he is not playable in the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console release of the game. In the Two-on-One minigame, the player as Bowser plays against Wario and Waluigi. Waluigi is also playable in his own minigame, playing against Luigi.

Mario Power Tennis[]

Waluigi Power Tennis

Waluigi reappears as a playable character. He is one of the two Defense characters, the other being Wiggler. Waluigi has great reach, but his movement and power are somewhat limited. Waluigi's Offensive Power Shot is the Whirluigi, a backspin shot that gives returners a whirlwind effect to lose their control, and his Defensive Power Shot is the Swimming Return, in which a pool appears in Waluigi's side of the court, and Waluigi swims over to the ball to hit it. In addition, this is the first time in which Waluigi shows off his ability to swim.

Waluigi is always first seen during the boot sequence, in which he is seen holding a Camelot sign, saying the company's name before giving a light laugh, right after Wario shows the Nintendo logo. Waluigi is then seen during the opening cinematic, in which he and Wario face off against Mario and Luigi in the first round of a tennis tournament in doubles. The two of them lose to Mario and Luigi.

Wario and Waluigi MPT intro

Wario and Waluigi interrupt the final match during the opening cinematic in Mario Power Tennis

Sometime after the match, Wario and Waluigi head to Peach Dome, where they notice the tournament board which shows that they have been eliminated. They decide to vandalize the picture of the Mario Bros. on the board in revenge. However, a group of police sees them in the act and attempts to arrest them. Wario and Waluigi run from the police for a while before hiding in a side room, which turns out to be an entrance to Bowser's workout room. The three then form an alliance, and Bowser has Wario and Waluigi train there while the tournament continues.

They interrupt the final match of the tournament: a doubles match featuring Mario and Luigi against Yoshi and Donkey Kong, and turn it into a rematch. Wario and Waluigi are booed, and decide to launch Bob-ombs at Mario and Luigi. Bowser helps them in a giant balloon full of Bob-ombs. However, the Bros. and the other characters hit the Bob-ombs back at Wario and Waluigi with their tennis rackets, blowing up parts of the Peach Dome. Bowser fires a Bullet Bill at Mario, but he deflects it with his tennis racket, sending it into Wario and Waluigi's Bob-omb launcher, which malfunctions and fires a Bob-omb at Bowser's balloon. Since the balloon was full of Bob-ombs, it crashes into the ground near Wario and Waluigi, causing a huge explosion. The three faint as a result.

Mario Tennis: Power Tour[]

Waluigi has the same traits as in Mario Power Tennis. This is the only Mario game thus far, excluding the online tournament demo for Mario Tennis Aces, to have Waluigi as a playable character but not Wario (although the latter can still be heard at the beginning of the game's intro shouting "Nintendo"). Waluigi has the same Offensive and Defensive Power Shot as in Mario Power Tennis.

Mario Tennis Open[]

Waluigi returns as a playable character in Mario Tennis Open, as one of the game's two defense type characters (the other being Dry Bowser). Waluigi is relatively unchanged, but his winning animation depicts him with flashing eyes, a reference to Waluigi's reaction to winning a point in the Nintendo 64 version of Mario Tennis.

Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash[]

Waluigi returns as a playable character in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. Like Mario Tennis Open, he and Dry Bowser are the only two Defense type characters.

Mario Tennis Aces[]

MTA Waluigi

Mario Tennis Aces artwork of Waluigi

Waluigi returns as a playable character, retaining his classification of being a defensive character and now wearing a new tennis outfit. Waluigi was also an unlockable playable character in the game's online tournament demo, unlocked after 100 points were accumulated. Waluigi's Special Shot is Showtime, where he inserts a rose between his teeth, does several pirouettes, and hits the ball. Waluigi's side Trick Shot is Moonwalk, and his forward and backward Trick Shot is Twisted Jump involving him jumping in from of the ball. By earning 1000 participation points in the July 2019 or January 2020 online tournaments, the player could unlock a costume of Waluigi with his normal overalls.

Waluigi also plays the role as a minor antagonist in its Adventure mode. In the story, both him and Wario are under the control of Lucien, an ancient evil tennis racket. It is stated that they were easy to manipulate because of their greed. However, rather than themselves, Lucien forces them to give it to Mario so it can use his body to take over the world, perhaps enforcing the idea that Waluigi (and Wario) are seen as incompetent by about everyone. Luigi ends up taking Lucien instead, however, and becomes possessed by it, transforming into a mummified, evil version of himself. As this happens, the same fate is bestowed upon Waluigi and Wario. They do not do much in the story at first, but at the end of the story, they steal two of the Power Stones used to either empower or defeat Lucien right from under Mario's nose and challenge him to a duel in Marina Stadium. Instead, however, they do a Doubles round against Princess Peach and Princess Daisy while Mario takes on the possessed Luigi. When they enter the stadium, they receive a dose of booing for their usual behavior in sports, such as foul play and bad sportsmanship.

Waluigi has great reach and good shot power, but is rather slow and his shots don't curve very well. As a result, Waluigi players usually spam his Flat Shot. His Special Shot, Showtime, involves him showing his theatrical side, which looks a lot like the animation for him getting an Eagle or better in Mario Golf: World Tour; He snaps his finger, gets a rose in his mouth, poses and spins around while screaming "WAAAAAAAAAAAAA" and levitates upwards.

In Mario Party series[]

Mario Party 3[]

Waluigi Defeats Bowser

Waluigi defeats Bowser with a kick.

This is Waluigi's first playable appearance alongside Princess Daisy. During Story Mode, Waluigi acts as the true main antagonist of the game. After the player has gotten almost every Star Stamp, Waluigi suddenly appears with the last one, the Mischief Stamp, caged up. Bowser soon appears attempting to get the Star Stamp but Waluigi manages to take out the Koopa King with a single kick after the two of them have a brief fight. Afterwards, instead of fighting one-on-one, Waluigi tells the player that the only way to get the last Star Stamp is to beat him on his board: Waluigi's Island. After Waluigi loses to the player, he tells the player that he'll remember this and runs away, never to be seen again in Story Mode. He is then unlocked as a playable character.

Since this game, Waluigi has consistently appeared as a playable character in every Mario Party game except Mario Party Advance.

Mario Party-e[]

Waluigi appears in a few minigames. In Waluigi's Reign, Waluigi drops hammers, coins, and red coins on Mario. In Time Bomb Ticks!, Waluigi hits buttons in order as quickly as possible to give Mario less time to stop the bomb. Waluigi also appears in two cards, Waluigi and Super Waluigi. They are both duel cards, which involves dueling a player for coin cards and in-play cards, but Super Waluigi costs coin cards.

In Game & Watch Gallery 4[]

Waluigi is the final opponent fought by Luigi in Boxing, although Waluigi can be played in multiplayer. He also appears in the Hard and Very Hard versions of modern Rain Shower, attempting to shift the clotheslines.

In Mario Golf series[]

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour[]

Waluigi MGTT artwork

Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour artwork

Waluigi is a playable character. Waluigi has a drive of 209 yards and a Star Drive of 260 yards. His impact and spin is slightly above average, his shot height is medium, and Waluigi has relatively average control. Waluigi is one of the main characters featured throughout the opening cinematic.

Mario Golf: Advance Tour[]

Waluigi is an unlockable playable character. He can be unlocked by being transferred from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour using the Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable.

Mario Golf: World Tour[]

Waluigi returns as a playable character. He has a drive of 208 yards and a Star Drive of 246 yards.

Waluigi has his own purchasable ball and set of clubs that can be equipped and used by a Mii. There is also an unlockable Waluigi costume that becomes available when all the Star Coins for the Cheep Cheep Lagoon challenges have been collected.

In the Castle Club's Royal Room, Waluigi can be seen pirouetting, next to Daisy.

For his eagle animation, Waluigi puts a rose in between his teeth, claps to turn on a spotlight, makes several poses, and pirouettes. The animation concludes with Waluigi holding the rose out in a dramatic fashion. The birdie animation is similar, but without the rose, and the par animation involves pirouetting. For his bogey animation, Waluigi yells out in a disappointed manner, while the double bogey animation involves Waluigi making expressions of disappointment under a dim spotlight and then falling down a hole.

Mario Golf: Super Rush[]

Waluigi MGSR artwork

Mario Golf: Super Rush artwork of Waluigi, now wearing a golf outfit

Waluigi returns as a playable character, now sporting a golfing outfit in place of his overalls. Waluigi is classified as an All-Around character, like with Wario. Waluigi has lower Power and Stamina than Wario, but his Speed is still better than Wario's. Waluigi's Special Shot is the Slim Stinger, and his Special Dash is the Dance-Off Dash.

In Mario Kart series[]

Mario Kart: Double Dash!![]

Wario and Waluigi - Group Art - Mario Kart Double Dash!!

Group artwork of Wario and Waluigi for Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

This is Waluigi's first playable appearance in the Mario Kart series, let alone appearance in general. Waluigi is a middleweight character whose default partner is Wario, and both of them have Bob-omb as their Special Item. Waluigi has his own track titled Waluigi Stadium, and his personal kart is Waluigi Racer.

In Waluigi Stadium, Waluigi's face appears on a Waluigi Kart sign in the background, also displayed in the course icon itself.

Mario Kart Arcade GP[]

Waluigi only makes a cameo in the Award Ceremony, where he is one of the audience members.

Mario Kart DS[]

MKDS Waluigi Artwork

Waluigi's artwork for Mario Kart DS

Waluigi returns as a playable character, retaining his middleweight classification. However, Waluigi now has to be unlocked, which can be done by completing Retro Grand Prix in 100cc. Like the other racers, Waluigi has three of his own personal karts, which in his case is the Standard WL, Zipper, and Gold Mantis. Waluigi has another personal track of his own, Waluigi Pinball.

In Waluigi Pinball, a large figure of Waluigi is seen near the end, during the pinball segment.

Mario Kart Arcade GP 2[]

Waluigi has a much larger role than in Mario Kart Arcade GP, as he is a playable racer, being of the Balanced type. Waluigi also has his own cup, the Waluigi Cup, which has two courses: Stadium Arena and Waluigi Stadium, both featuring Waluigi's icon on their respective sign above the Starting Grid.

Mario Kart Wii[]

Waluigi Mario Kart Wii artwork

Artwork of Waluigi riding a bike for Mario Kart Wii

Waluigi returns once again in Mario Kart Wii as default character. Unlike in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! and Mario Kart DS, he is classified as a heavyweight character with his acceleration bonus being tied with Toad. Waluigi Stadium from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! returns as a Retro Course.

Mario Kart 7[]

MK7-DS-WP

Although Waluigi does not physically appear his likeness appears in Waluigi Pinball, a Retro Course returning from Mario Kart DS.

Waluigi would have appeared as playable character, but he was scrapped as a result of time constraints.[1]

Mario Kart Arcade GP DX[]

Waluigi later returns as an unlockable character. Oddly, this appearance features Waluigi as a lightweight character.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

WiiU MarioKart8 scrn10 E3

Waluigi racing in Twisted Mansion in Mario Kart 8

Waluigi is a playable racer who is available from the start. Waluigi retains his heavyweight classification from Mario Kart Wii, but he is still among the lighter ones, like with Donkey Kong, Rosalina, and Roy Koopa.

In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Waluigi's stats are now the same as Donkey Kong's and Roy's.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[]

While Waluigi does not physically appear, wearing both the L Emblem and W Emblem allows Mario to wear a purple shirt and black overalls, like that of Waluigi's.

In Mario Baseball series[]

Mario Superstar Baseball[]

Waluigi Baseball

Artwork of Waluigi for Mario Superstar Baseball

Waluigi is a playable character of the Technique type and a team captain. He is tied with Bowser for having the best pitching stats, and is left-handed while both batting and fielding. Whenever Waluigi charges up his hits, they tend to have less power instead of more, though it has increased accuracy. Waluigi's Star Skill is the Liar Ball, and when he uses it while either pitching or batting, Waluigi sends both a baseball and an eggplant to trick the batter while pitching or the outfielders while batting. For his special moves, Waluigi has a Laser Beam, which can help prevent characters running home, and a Super Jump that can help catch high balls. Waluigi's Laser Beam is slower than that of some of the other characters' Laser Beam.

In the opening cinematic, Waluigi is a teammate of Wario's during Bowser's baseball tournament. In the finals, when Wario's team faces off against Mario, Waluigi attempts to slide into the home plate, but Peach throws the ball to Yoshi at home to apply the tag. As a result, Waluigi comes up short, and is out.

In Challenge mode, Waluigi is a default member of Wario's team, Wario Greats. If Waluigi is on the player's team, he can only use Liar Ball once the Whiskered Eggplant has been purchased. In the cinematic that plays after completing Special Cup, both Waluigi and Wario enter the Field of Dreams at night, seemingly in league with Bowser.

Mario Super Sluggers[]

Waluigi Sluggers

Artwork of Waluigi for Mario Super Sluggers

Waluigi returns as a playable character. During the last of the four cinematics, Waluigi and Wario scheme against Mario and Luigi by inserting a Bullet Bill into the Bob-omb Derby pitching machine. When the Bullet Bill launches toward Mario, Bowser suddenly emerges to use his bat to hit the Bullet Bill, blasting Wario and Waluigi away with it.

Waluigi is tied for having one of the highest pitching and fielding abilities, although his pitching is surpassed by Princess Peach and Boo. Like in Mario Superstar Baseball, Waluigi remains left-handed while batting and pitching. Waluigi has one of the smallest hitboxes for his normal swings. Waluigi retains the Liar Ball, this time as his Star Pitch, and now has the Liar Swing as his Star Swing. The Liar Ball is no longer associated with eggplants but instead involves Waluigi throwing a large baseball that returns to regular size upon reaching the batter, which can mess up the batter's timing with the swing. The Liar Swing causes the baseball to travel in a zig-zag path through the air.

In Mario Strikers series[]

Super Mario Strikers[]

Waluigi Strikers

Artwork for Super Mario Strikers

Waluigi is one of the playable characters and a team captain. Waluigi's Super Strike is named the Drop Rocket. Waluigi is of the offensive type, making it easier for his Super Strike gauge to land on the light green area but more difficult to land on the dark green area. The robots making up the Super Team have a similar physique to Waluigi.

Mario Strikers Charged[]

Waluigi returns as a playable character and team captain. Unlike before, Waluigi is of the defensive type, so he has great movement speed and a long tackle but is poor at shooting and passing. Waluigi's Super Ability is Wall-Luigi!, in which he creates purple vines to block his opponents from reaching him. Waluigi also uses these vines during his Mega Strike as a whip.

In Striker Challenges mode, Waluigi plays against Luigi in the Storm Cup, where Waluigi must defeat Luigi by three or more goals in order to advance through the tourney.

Mario Strikers: Battle League[]

Waluigi returns as a playable character, and is still of the defensive type. Waluigi's strongest attributes are his speed and strength, while he has weaker shooting and passing. His Hyper Strike is Thorn Barrier.

In Mario Hoops 3-on-3[]

MH3on3 Waluigi

Mario Hoops 3-on-3 artwork

Waluigi is a playable character available from the start. He is one of four Technical characters, alongside Peach, Daisy, and White Mage. Waluigi's Special Shot is the Twist Dunk, in which he dribbles the ball in a W shape before shooting the ball at the basket, as a cyclone trails behind it, then swims through the air to dunk the ball into the net.

In Mario Sports Mix[]

MSMart4

Artwork of Wario throwing a dodgeball at Waluigi for Mario Sports Mix

Waluigi is classified as a technical type character. His technique is very high, but his other stats are fairly low. Waluigi's Special Shot features him throwing up to four balls/pucks. Each shot that connects with the goal is counted, and is worth one point each (this adds up to four points if all shots connect). In dodgeball, Waluigi's Special Shot can do up to four attacks on his opponents.

While serving in volleyball, Waluigi's serves can go only in a straight line. In dodgeball, Waluigi evades attacks by spinning his body.

In WarioWare Gold[]

Waluigi makes a cameo appearance in Wario's amiibo Sketch as one of the crude drawings drawn by Wario, which in Wario's case is specifically if the player scans a Waluigi amiibo.

Crossover appearances[]

Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix[]

This is Waluigi's second role as a main antagonist in the storyline, following Mario Party 3. Here, Waluigi steals the Music Keys from Truffle Towers, and wants to use them to improve his dancing skills to hypnotize the world with his dance moves in hopes of conquering it and spreading chaos. Waluigi gives three of the Music Keys to three other bosses, keeping only one for himself.

When the heroes confront Waluigi at Truffle Towers, he attacks Mario (or Luigi) and Toad with several Bob-ombs, causing them to fall down a Warp Pipe. Eventually, after the two engage in a dance-off, Mario (or Luigi) defeats Waluigi and recovers the first Music Key.

Waluigi's song is Destruction Dance, a remix of the bonus game tune from Wrecking Crew, despite Waluigi not appearing in the game.

Mario & Sonic series[]

Waluigi is a playable character in every Mario & Sonic title, usually being of the Skill type.

Attention MarioWiki users!: This section is short or lacks sufficient information. Whether you are commenting or editing, we would appreciate it if you help MarioWiki by expanding it.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

While Waluigi is not in the roster of playable characters, he appears as an Assist Trophy, along with his tennis racket, in a nod to his first appearance.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U[]

Waluigi returns as an Assist Trophy. Oddly he is representing the Wario franchise instead of the Mario franchise despite only having a few cameos within the Wario games. Waluigi acts the same in Brawl except he moves much faster and his attacks are slightly stronger.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[]

Waluigi Assist Trophy SSBU

Waluigi reprises his role as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Waluigi can be defeated if the fighter deals more damage to him.

In other media[]

Nintendo Monopoly[]

Waluigi is one of the characters who appears in Nintendo Monopoly, in which he takes the place of Mediterranean Avenue. Waluigi is the least expensive character to purchase as well as one of the least profitable characters. It costs $60 to purchase him.
