Super Smash Bros.

Super Smash Bros. (ニンテンドウオールスター! 大乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ Nintendō Ōrusutā! Dairantō Sumasshu Burazāzu, lit. Nintendo All-Star! Great Fray Smash Brothers), often shortened to SSB (Smash 64, SSB64, Super Smash Bros. 64), was the first in the series of five fighter games starring most of Nintendo's All Stars. It was released on the Nintendo 64 by Hal Laboratory. It is also available through the Wii Virtual Console.

There are twelve characters in Super Smash Bros. (8 starters and 4 unlockables).

Starter characters[]

Unlockable characters[]

  • Ness (Ness is unlocked by doing 1-P Game on Normal 3 stocks and no continues.)
  • Luigi (Luigi is unlocked by doing Bonus 1: Break the Targets with all starter characters.)
  • Jigglypuff (Jigglypuff is unlocked by doing 1-P Game with any character.)
  • Captain Falcon (Captain Falcon is unlocked by doing 1-P Game in 20 minutes or less.)
  • The other unlockable is Sound Test. And it is unlocked by doing Bonus 1: Break the Targets and Bonus 2: Board the Platforms with all 12 characters.

  • Mushroom Kingdom (Mushroom Kingdom is unlocked by using all starter characters at least once in VS. Mode and doing 1-P Game with all starter characters.)

  • Super Smash Bros. was originally going to be called Kakuto-Gēmu Ryūō (Dragon King: The Fighting Game) and featured colored versions of The Fighting Polygon Team not shaped like Nintendo characters.
  • This game remains the only game in the Super Smash Bros. series where Final Destination and Battlefield cannot be played on outside Classic Mode.
