Boost Pad MKW

In front of Donkey Kong and Bowser is a Mario Kart Wii version of the boost pad.

Boost Pads (also called Dash Panels) are special zones that appear in the Mario Kart series. The appearance of these items has changed throughout the game's history from flashing rainbow panels to green panels to just plain yellow and red pads. Boost Pads are used to increase speed of the Karts, especially essential to use in great obstacles as big jumps and slopes. Super Mario Kart Boost pads (known as Zippers in the game) appear as yellow arrows on a few courses. Mario Kart 64 Boost pads make appearances on Royal Raceway and DK's Jungle Parkway and appear as yellow pads with scrolling red arrows. Mario Kart: Super Circuit Boost pads make another comeback as yellow and red pad that appear in most of the levels. Mario Kart: Double Dash!! Boost Pads appear as flashing rainbow pads in this game but only on a few courses. In Mario Kart DS, where they are more often called Dash Panels, they appear as flashing rainbow pads again in many courses. Mario Kart Wii Boost Pads look like multicolored conveyor belts as in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. The Boost Pads on the Retro Stages are still the same from their original game. In Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8, the boost pads are either orange or blue. The blue ones activate a glider and have white arrows. There is a similar object called the Anti-gravity panel, which has a blue appearance with circles and does not give a speed boost.
