The Fawful Express is a train that appears in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, acting as the third Super Bowser boss. During the cutscene introducing the train, Bowser finds his treasure vault where his safe with the second Star Cure is located, although a train track is running through the vault, much to the Koopa King's chagrin. As he ponders about the track's origin, the Monty Bros. appear and reveal that they switched sides, and Bowser is even more enraged. Afterwards, the Fawful Express gets ready to leave Bowser's Castle while Bowser is standing on the tracks, looking for the safe with the second Star Cure. As Bowser tries to stop the train from crushing him, he trips, and is crushed into a rock. There is then a giant battle (3rd giant battle overall) against the Monty Bros. and the Fawful Express.

Battle[]

In battle, the Fawful Express does not fight by itself but it tries to get away from Bowser at all costs. At every station, the train will stop for two turns, attacking after Bowser gets his first turn at the station and then fleeing to the next after he gets the second turn to attack. As such, the phases are largely time-based.

Phase 1[]

At first, the Fawful Express releases Choombae, which can be destroyed if Bowser crushes them under his feet. Occasionally, a Refreshroom will appear, being added to the Koopa King's inventory unless he smashes it. After the first two stations, Bowser will be directed to a large spiked hill, which must be destroyed by punching it. However, he has limited time to do so without taking damage, lest he gets hit by a missile that the train launched beforehand. Afterwards, Phase 2 begins.

Phase 2[]

During the second phase of the battle, the Fawful Express will hide inside a mountain and animate it. The mountain can be destroyed easily by fire, though it can counter this by summoning thunder clouds with Fawful faces on them to put out its flames. Bowser can destroy them with his fire breath. Another attack for the mountain to use is to ram Bowser to send him into the rebuilt spiky hill where the first missile was launched. Bowser can resist by pushing the mountain back, and if his resistance is great enough, the counterattack will result in the mountain getting shoved into the opposite spiky hill. After the mountain is destroyed, the train will be exposed again, going through the aforementioned spiky hill that Bowser can shove the mountain into. Bowser must repeat his strategy with the first spiky hill to get past, lest the missile strikes him.

Phase 3[]

The final phase is time-based, just like phase 1. During this phase, the Monty Bros. will carry bombs that they use to hit Bowser. Bowser can use his punch defense to punch their leader, causing them to drop their bombs onto the train itself. As with phase 1, only two stations will be visited, but if Bowser fails to kill the Fawful Express before passing the second station, he will get duped into stepping onto the bridge. A cutscene then plays where Bowser destroys the bridge, falling to his demise in the valley below.

Tips[]

Due to the Fawful Express' height, Bowser's punches cannot touch it so he must use only his fire breath to damage it. Bowser must use his fire breath effectively to reach the highest damage. It is better not to take many damage which wastes a turn to heal that may prevent Bowser attacking.
