Duplighosts are enemies that first appear in Paper Mario.

Appearance

Duplighosts resemble ghosts except for being grey in color.

History

They are known for their ability to transform into their rivals, taking their forms and abilities. Their name is a combination of the words "duplicate" and "ghosts". They are found in the Crystal Palace where several try to hinder Mario and co. on their journey. There is even a single Duplighost at Bowser's Castle that tries to fool Mario by copying Princess Peach but is defeated in battle.  A single Duplighost by the name of Doopliss was later found in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. He resides in the Creepy Steeple where he was in possession of the fourth Crystal Star. These enemies attack Mario by swooping down at him or turning into one of his partners. Another Duplighost called Lee resides in The Dojo of Toad Town of Paper Mario.

Battle

In battle, Duplighosts can attack by using a charging headbutt. Their main tactic is to transform into either Mario or one of his partners (the one he currently has out).
