A Duel Space is a space that conditionally appears on game boards in Mario Party 7 and Mario Party DS. In Mario Party 8, they only appear in Star Battle Arena, as duels (on Party Tent) are only accessed by the Duelo Candy. In the Mario Party DS version, it is signified on the minimap as an orange spot, and on the actual game board as a purple space with an icon of two crossed swords. It counts as a green space for the purposes of determining teams for mini-games. The loser of the minigame gives coins or stars to the winner.

In Mario Party 7, the item (which the loser gives to the winner) is decided by a roulette. In Mario Party 8, it is decided by a Dart Wheel. And in Mario Party DS, the player (iniator or defender) can choose to bet either coins (10, 20, half, or all coins) or stars (1 or 2 stars). Then the winner of the duel gets the wagered coins or stars.

Notes[]

  • Duel Spaces only appear on boards during the final five turns of a game. They exist where all Friend Spaces originally resided.
  • A player that lands on this space selects an opponent to duel. The challenger then spins a "wheel" to determine the stakes that each player puts up in the duel.
    • Each participant puts up as much of the determined stake that he or she can cover, and a duel minigame is chosen.
    • The winner of the duel game takes both players' wagers. Should there be no clear winner (the players both won or both lost, or there was a draw), the wagers are returned to the players.

Wheel Stakes[]

  • In Mario Party 7: 10 coins, Half of your coins, All of your coins, 1 Star, or 2 Stars (Party Cruise --except Windmillville)/10 coins, half of your coins, or all your coins (Windmillville and Solo Cruise)
    • If the winner lands on the "X" in the roulette, the loser of the duel, they do not give any coins or stars to the winner.
  • In Mario Party 8 (Star Battle Arena Only): 5, 10, or 20 coins (Iniator)/1 coin, 5 coins, or 10 coins (Defender)
  • In Mario Party DS: 10 coins, 20 coins, half of your coins, all your coins, 1 star, or 2 stars
