History
When Nintendo lost the rights to make a Popeye game, Shigeru Miyamoto came up with this game's idea.
Story
Mario (then known as Jumpman) had his girlfriend, Pauline, captured by his ape, Donkey Kong. He had to rescue her.
Gameplay
You must jump over many obstacles to get to the top of the screen and save Pauline. This was one of the first examples of a platform game.
Ports
Donkey Kong was ported on many systems including the Atari 2600, Intellevision, the game and watch and the NES. It was later ported on the Classic NES Series for the Game Boy Advance. It was also a minigame on Donkey Kong 64 which you must beat to earn the Nintendo Coin, neccessary to beat the game.
