Chomp Rocks first appear in this game. They can be used to help the Yoshis throughout their journey, namely by either rolling them into enemies along the way or by getting on to a high platform that is just out of a Yoshi's jumpng reach. Chomp Rocks move even faster when pushed down a slope. They first appear in the level, Make Eggs, Throw Eggs, and are the main feature of the level The Cave Of Chomp Rock.

Chomp Rocks come in two different colors, gray or brown, with the only difference being that gray Chomp Rocks respawn at their initial location if a Yoshi walks offscreen before returning.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Both gray and brown Chomp Rocks appear, but neither are capable of respawning.
