Boomerang Mario

Boomerang Mario is a transformation introduced in the Nintendo 3DS title Super Mario 3D Land. It is based on the Boomerang Bro., making it similar to Hammer Mario, which is based on the Hammer Bro.. Mario becomes Boomerang Mario after obtaining a Boomerang Flower. With the Boomerang suit, Mario can throw one boomerang at a time to defeat enemies, destroy projectiles, and collect items from a distance[1]. Mario can also jump to dodge the boomerang to allow it to move back and forth continuously before collecting it.

  • Though a new power-up in the series, Mario is able to use a Boomerang in Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 by scanning the Boomerang e-Card from the e-Reader or by taking it from a defeated Boomerang Bro. that threw blue Boomerangs. It is not a power-up, as Mario loses the Boomerang after completing a level. The boomerang's design is based on said boomerang. Its moves are also similar as well. Its appearance resembles Shell Mario.
  • Boomerang Mario's, Luigi's (in Super Mario 3D Land) and Toad's boomerang are identical to the magic boomerang from the Legend of Zelda series.
